Getting to School

Walking to School

As part of a healthier and more environmentally friendly approach, we encourage children to walk to school wherever possible. Children should be accompanied by a responsible person where applicable, and we encourage all persons to wear high visibility clothing, especially in the winter months.

There are two pedestrian entrances to the school. Children and parents should not use the vehicle entrance even though the gates may be open at the start of the day.

Driving to School

Parking is difficult as the car park is for staff and visitors only. Private cars are not allowed into the school grounds to deliver or collect children at the beginning or end of the school day. The main gates remain closed during lesson time.
Harrington Road can get very congested at time, so please park with consideration for other road users. Please note that during school hours there is a 20mph limit immediately outside the school.

During concerts etc; parking may be available on the Junior playground.

Attendance Times

We invite children onto the playground and to enter school between 8.50 and 9.00am. The school cannot take any responsibility for pupils who arrive earlier than 8.50a.m.

*Reception class time will vary during the Autumn induction period.

Teaching Time

Key Stage 1 and Reception spend 5 hours a day in school, excluding the lunch break. That time includes 2 x 15 minute playtimes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and 15 minutes (approx.) for assembly.

Juniors (Key Stage 2) have a longer day, totalling 5¼ hours. They have one 15 minute break in the morning and a daily assembly lasting for about 15 minutes.

It is quite common for teachers and children to work together both at playtime and lunch time.
