Core Policies

Unless otherwise stated, our School Policies are issued by the school management team and are ratified by the School Governors before release. If you require access to a Policy that is not shown on this website, please contact the school office.

Loatlands Primary School policy for Special Educational Needs has been developed in accordance with the revised Code of Practice on the Identification and Assessment of Special Educational Needs introduced in January 2002. In our school, each pupil is valued as an individual and has entitlement to a quality of education, which recognises his or her needs and responds to them in so far as resources will allow. We promote the development of the social, motor, intellectual, language and emotional learning of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) alongside their peers wherever possible.

This charging and remissions policy describes how we will do our best to ensure a good range of visits and activities is offered and, at the same time, try to minimise the financial barriers which may prevent some pupils taking full advantage of the opportunities. The 1996 Education Act requires all schools to have a policy on charging and remissions for school activities, which will be kept under regular review.

The school ethos is for the development of a safe, caring community school, which encourages respect, decent behaviour and positive relationships among all its members and provides an environment where learning can take place effectively. We ask all members of the school community to TRY HARD and AIM HIGH in all they do.

Loatlands Primary School is committed to providing a caring, safe and friendly environment in which children can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable. The school stance is to have zero tolerance of bullying and to deal with incidents in the most effective manner we can. Pupils are taught to respect themselves and others and if bullying does occur pupils should feel comfortable to be able to talk to someone about it.

This document is a statement of the aims, principles and strategies for monitoring and promoting good attendance at Loatlands Primary School. We aim to enable all children to achieve the highest possible levels of attendance and punctuality so gaining the maximum benefit from their education. This school sees good attendance and punctuality as essential for all children if they are to be successful, and aims to work in partnership with parents to ensure the highest possible levels.
